   ライオン、ゾウ、飛行機、車など動物や乗り物がかたどられた「Chunky」シリーズ。1ページあたりの厚さは5ミリ以上もあり、ページを閉じるとカタカタと音がするほど硬く、木でできたおもちゃのようにも見える。手のひらサイズで、コロンとした形がかわいい。

   本文は、短くて簡単な英文で構成されている。赤ちゃんには、かわいい形を楽しむおもちゃとして、少し大きくなったらお父さん、お母さんが英語を読み聞かせながら…と年齢に応じた楽しみ方ができるだろう。

   「Chunky」シリーズには、「Chunky Safari」（elephant、lion、zebra、rhino）、「Chunky Farm」（horse、sheep、cow、pig）、「Chunky Pets」（cat、bunny、dog、guinea pig）といった動物のシリーズと、飛行機や車のシリーズ「Chunky Transportation」（boat、plane、car、train）がある。いくつかそろえて、組み合わせて遊ぶのも楽しい。（門倉紫麻）

Also when closed, they're shaped to look like their titles—a toy car, plane, train, and boat. When toddlers open each book they'll find an entertaining little story about vehicles. The words are easy to understand, and the full-color illustrations on each page bring the story to life. When kids finish the story, they can close the covers and guide the vehicles around on the floor to create brand new stories of their own. Inside the vehicles' plastic headlights are black buttons that wiggle when moved and resemble comical eyes.
