The Jupiter II lands on a deserted planet in order to make desperately needed repairs. But first the crew must search for Professor Robinson, who landed first via jet-packs to ensure the environment was tolerable to humans. In the search party's absense, Dr. Smith plans his escape back to Earth by programming the Robot to kill everyone except Major West-the first "nonessential" person to be "eliminated" being young Will Robinson.
