Balancing the Rose and the Thorn is the first book in a poetry trilogy. Its purpose is to give readers a glance into the mind of a young poet, one who is trying to evolve his own style while dealing with the nuisances of everyday life. Part one of the book is “The Rose.” It deals with multiple ways to organize poetry and is full of sonnets, haiku and rhyming verse. This part is much more philosophical. Part two is “The Thorn.” It is written in a contemporary poetry format and deals with the personal side of poetry and real life.
