James Capen Adams, early fur trapper and mountain man of the 1800s, saw life as few men ever do. His unique relationship with nature, established after many years of solitude and self-confinement in the mountains of the west, yielded an understanding of the outdoors and of the animal world that was to make him a legend.
Pursued for a crime that he didnt commit, Adams decides to live his life in the wilderness. There he befriends an Indian brave and an orphaned grizzly cub. The bear becomes his constant companion, sharing the adventures of the wilderness.
Filmed entirely on location in The High Uintas of Utah.
