   バンドの6作目のアルバムが最高傑作になることはめったにないが、本作はプライマル・スクリームの新たな夜明けを告げる革新的なアルバムに他ならない。そんなプライマル・スクリームだが、ほんの数年前までは消耗しきっているように見えた。ドラッグに溺れた間抜けな男は、ありきたりなロックンロールによる怠惰な安らぎで痛みを麻痺させていたのだ。

   本作はスクリームにとって初めての闘争宣言である。公正な社会的良心を持つアルバムであり、スライ&ザ・ファミリー・ストーンの『There's A Riot Goin' On. Musically』のファンクに焚きつけられた憤りによって、社会の無関心と不正に怒りの矛先を向けている。サウンド面でも、1991年以来避けてきたトータル性を打ち出して、制約を課している。緊張感あるインダストリアルなトランスの「Swastika Eyes」から、安っぽいヒップホップの「Pills」、歓喜のクラウト・ロックである「Shoot Speed Kill Light」まで、心を病んで絶望的になったかと思うと、次の瞬間には、輝かしく高潔な幸福感にひたっている。

   本作にはたしかに、ケミカル・ブラザーズ、ニュー・オーダーのバーナード・サマー、マイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタインのケヴィン・シールズといったゲストが貢献している。けれどもリスナーは、全速力で飛ばす改造車レースを思わせるディストーションを目一杯効かせた「Accelerator」で、ボビー・ギレスピーが「ここからどこへ？」と叫ぶのを聴いたとき、彼こそがすばらしいロックン・ロールの未来への道しるべであることに気づくはずだ。（Louis Pattison, Amazon.co.uk）
