TOPICAINE 5 is a translucent, non-oily clear gel that contains 5% Lidocaine with soothing agents, such as glycerin, jojoba oil and aloe vera oil. The gel has a calming, cooling effect on the skin by the actions of Shea butter, aloe, jojoba oil and alpha-bisabolol (the anti-inflammatory active ingredient of chamomile). It is petrolatum free. The topical anesthetic is for use on normal intact skin for local analgesia. Adequate dermal analgesia is achieved after 1 hour of application, and the effect continues for approximately 1 hour after removal. Areas such as the upper lip may be numb for up to 30 minutes after application. It can be used for the relief of pain and itching caused by: minor skin irritations, minor burns, minor cuts and insect bites. TOPICAINE 5 also has a label indication for use on anorectal pain such as that caused by hemorrhoids.
